Babies love to be the cuddled and it also keeps them warm. Swaddling makes the baby feel snug, comfortable, warm, secure and cozy. It helps them sleep longer. It also calm and soothe babies who are fussy or crying.

Newborn babies don't have the ability to regulate their body temperature like an adult, to keep them warm babies needs to be swaddled. However, check the baby from time to time to make sure that the baby is not too hot. It also helps the baby to sleep longer since it prevents them from startling or sudden movements that wakes them up in the middle of the sleep.

Swaddling can also help a baby focus on breastfeeding, it keeps their arms and legs out of the way. It also prevents a newborn baby from scratching themselves with their nails.

Another benefit of Swaddle Blanket is that unlike loose blankets in the crib that can cover your baby's face and interfere the baby's breathing.

I really love this product since it worked out so perfectly. It has an adjustable wrap with fastener strip for easy and secure swaddling. It also washes very well and holds up to repeated use.

Maxton

Baby Maxton, Nursery
Things have been crazy lately that I haven't even been able to update. So anyway, we had a baby, yay, he's finally here! We named him Maxton, which means "greatest". Our delivery, just like our pregnancy was totally unexpected. One minute I was at my OB's office for my 37th week appointment and then the next, I was at the hospital being prepped for surgery. Apparently, my baby's umbilical cord has prolapsed, meaning if I go into labor, the cord will come out before the baby does causing oxygen loss which may then result in a stillbirth. It's a very rare obstetric emergency, so of course, it had to happen to us. Also, I may have developed pre-eclampsia. So I had a C-section. I was unconscious the whole time. I went in to surgery at 6.30PM, baby Max was out by 6.52PM. He weighed 6 lbs and was 49 cm long. I bled a lot during surgery so it wasn't until 1AM that they were able to put me back together. I didn't see Max til late that afternoon. He was swollen and squishy but still so darn cute. Anyway, it's been 2 weeks and baby and I, even dad are all doing great. We haven't had a good night's sleep in a while and I haven't truly known exhaustion until now but we're getting a handle on things.

Today's post will mostly be photos - baby bump (long overdue!) and nursery - those I planned on posting but didn't get the chance to until now.

I gained a total of 18 lbs in 9 months but already lost 13 of it in 2 weeks. A few more sleepless nights I guess and we'll call it even. I didn't get stretch marks but now, I have a hell of a C-section scar. My tummy is still a bit saggy but I trust my Belly Bandit will do its job. I'll have before and after pictures soon.

Here's a glimpse into our baby's nursery.

I'm too tired and sleepy to take more photos, Max's cry-nurse-poop cycle leaves me with no time to do anything else but I'll definitely post more pictures when I can. Happy New Year, everyone!

3rd Trimester Update

So I had the dreaded OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) last week which thank goodness, turned out fine. I also had a CAS (Congenital Anomaly Scan) done and it looked good. I had to get an HBT (Liver-Biliary) scan though because of abdominal pain, but it came back normal. Who knew gas could be so excruciating? My back hurts a lot as well, I can't sleep at all, I'm always tired, and sometimes, I can't even breathe. I pee every 5 minutes, I'm hungry all the time, and as you can see, my belly button has stuck out (and quite obscenely too, if I may add). My face is now like that of a teenage boy's - oily and pimply, and from size 0, I am rapidly getting closer and closer to becoming a size 4. But other than those, I really thank God that we're fine and that we've made it this far and that I'm fortunate enough to have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy so far.

Halfway There

Sorry for my silence. The past several months have truly been overwhelmingly unnerving. Since my PCOS diagnosis last year, I have resigned myself to a quiet, childless life. I've already made peace about the fact that it's just going to be us two, living a life of reckless abandon. So when in May, we found out that we're "unexpectedly" expecting, our world completely turned upside down. If not for the constant kicking and squirming around inside me, I still find it very hard to believe I'm pregnant. It has been an exhausting, terrifying, exciting 20 weeks. I try not to but still I worry I'd inadvertently do something that would harm the baby. I'm suddenly terrified of everything - things I can control, even those I can't. I sometimes work myself up into a frenzy thinking about the million things that could go wrong. I know all this stress is not doing me any good but I can't help it. I am a negative person. I'm just hardwired that way. So far, my baby boy has a strong heartbeat, he moves around a lot, especially every time I play him Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star or when Ron reads him stories - wiggles around like a maniac! Despite all my pessimism, his punches and kicks never fail to put a smile on my face. I have a living, breathing, little person inside me and the fact that I am his whole world is just awesome.
